Ein intaktes Hautmikrobiom hat einen grundlegenden Einfluss auf die Hautgesundheit. Produkte, die hautfreundlich sein sollen, müssen auch Mikrobiom-freundlich sein, um die Haut des Anwenders nicht aus dem Gleichgewicht zu bringen.

Der MyMicrobiome Standard bewertet den Einfluss von Kosmetik- und Körperpflegeprodukten auf die mikrobiellen Schlüsselorganismen eines bestimmten Haut- oder Schleimhautbereichs. Das menschliche Mikrobiom ist von Mensch zu Mensch sehr individuell.

Jeder Bereich beherbergt jedoch eine charakteristische Zusammensetzung von Bakterien, Viren und Pilzen. Der Test untersucht den Einfluss der Produkte auf die für die jeweilige Hautpartie typischen Schlüsselorganismen und bietet somit ein standardisiertes Verfahren.
