The active ingredient nystatin, which NystaFem® uses to combat vaginal yeast infections, is a proven and natural remedy. It attacks the fungus directly by destroying key functions of its cell walls. This causes the fungus to lose control of its metabolism and die. At the same time, the beneficial bacteria in the vaginal flora, such as lactic acid bacteria, are not affected. This allows the biological balance in the vagina to quickly recover. Due to its local effect, NystaFem® can also be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Furthermore, vaginal fungal pathogens have not yet shown any clinically relevant habituation effect to nystatin.
