MyMicrobiome Standard 23.10 tests products for our mouth
For a Microbiome-friendly world!
Our oral microbiome is comprised of various sites. The keratinized mucosa on the palatine on the one hand, the hard surface of the teeth on the other. In total, there are nine different sites, each specifically colonized by bacteria, fungi, but also viruses and archaea. Streptococci of all kinds are the most common in all of these sites, but also Prevotellae, Veillonellae and as many as 20 to 50 genera from 6 to 9 phyla.
For a healthy mouth flora!
Rapid wound healing in the oral region
Most of us have experienced that smaller injuries in mouth and throat heal surprisingly fast and the self-regulation and -healing is mostly sufficient and no further medication needed.
Our mouth is the orifice that has to face several substances of various temperatures, textures and pH level. Hygienic measures and food can be acidic, alkaline, close to boiling hot or ice cold. All of this has to be tolerated by the oral microbiome. Most of us have experienced that smaller injuries in mouth and throat heal surprisingly fast and the self-regulation and -healing is mostly sufficient and no further medication needed. Our oral microbiome is kind of a self-healing factory that is constantly running on highest level.
Like for all microbiomes goes, the less influence, the better. But especially in our industrialized world with highly processed and mostly sugary food, we find our oral microbiome pretty impaired. Thorough and regular care-taking of our mouth is vital. At the same time, our good intentions are overshooting the mark. A gentle mouthwash, for example, is more recommended, as aggressive ones can affect the oral microbiome.
So, all of our dental care products should be thorough, but at the same time smooth in regards to the microbiome. Products with fluoride make sense, bleaching products should be refrained from.
We help you differ “important means of hygiene” from “exaggerated or impairing intervention”. Keep an eye on our Microbiome-friendly seal to find the right balance for your oral microbiome.
